Changing the Way You See Plymouth Road!
Realizing that much should and could be done to enhance the appearance and improve the safety of Plymouth Road , and because the opportunity was available to finance such a program, the City Administration in 1993 authorized the establishment of the Plymouth Road Development Authority. The PRDA is empowered to plan the modifications and enhancements desired, hire the architects to draw up the specific details, select the contractors to perform the work and then maintain theses new enhancements. Our Mission Location Details There are 99,124 people residing within a three mile radius of the intersection of the Plymouth / Farmington Roads intersection which is the geographic center of the corridor. Within a ten mile radius of this intersection are 988,506 people residing within the counties of Wayne , Washtenaw and Oakland . These residents live in close proximity to the corridor with easy access to this business district. The Plymouth Road Corridor, as a business district in the City of Livonia , contains one of three regional shopping centers and four community size shopping centers. In addition to shopping facilities, Plymouth Road has six automotive manufacturing facilities owned by Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation. The corridor is mostly built-out consisting of a mixture of residential, office, retail, warehousing and manufacturing uses. |

In its early history, Plymouth Road supported
an airport and many of the first businesses
that claimed Livonia as their home base. Due
to the conditions that existed at that time,
businesses were placed in a variety of setbacks
from the road and each had its own driveway
and unique parking. This was fine in its day,
but did not lend itself to the best aesthetic
appearance or the safest traffic conditions.
